چکیده

Availability and uptake of heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Fe, Al, Cr, Ni) by mung bean grown on coal mine spoil was studied. The experiment was carried out as a pot culture experiment using garden soil and different proportion of coal mine spoil. The heavy metals were transported to roots then shoot and were found in traces in the fruits. No toxicity symptom was reported during vegetative as well as reproductive phages.

The Effect of Different Soil Amendments on Growth of Mung bean (Vigna Radiata L.) in Coal Mine Overburden Dumps

The surface mining activities in the past and in recent times has resulted into existence of number of overburden dumps through excavation and depositing removed soil and rock debris. These dumps require environmental stabilization/restoration, through proper revegetation. To achieve this aim, a study was conducted to find the efficacy of Mung bean (Vigna radiata L.), an economically important ...

Investigation of Plants Purification Capability of Cu on Two Cultivars of Mung Bean Plants in Contaminated Soils

Objective: To study plants purification capability of  Cu on two cultivars of vetch plant (Vigna Radiata) in contaminated soils and their effects on morphological characteristics. Methods: we conducted a completely randomized trial as factorial. Different concentrations of  Cu (0, 150, 300, and 400 mg/ Kg of dried soil) were used. After four weeks growth on contaminated soil, parameters such as...

Identification of Bradyrhizobium elkanii Genes Involved in Incompatibility with Vigna radiata

The establishment of a root nodule symbiosis between a leguminous plant and a rhizobium requires complex molecular interactions between the two partners. Compatible interactions lead to the formation of nitrogen-fixing nodules, however, some legumes exhibit incompatibility with specific rhizobial strains and restrict nodulation by the strains. Bradyrhizobium elkanii USDA61 is incompatible with ...

Abscission: quantification of light control.

Low level red light treatments prevented dark-induced leaf abscission in mung bean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek cv Jumbo) cuttings. The amount of inhibition depended upon the level and length of the light treatment. The red light inhibition could be reversed by a brief exposure of tissue to far-red light.
